While working as the Packaging Art Director and Lead Designer at Sphero, my team was tasked to design packing for four new toys that would launch alongside the highly anticipated Star Wars films during the 2016 holiday season. A follow-up to the Sphero BB-8, the hottest toy for the holidays in 2015, this new line of Star Wars app-enabled droids would be even more sophisticated. With a higher price point came increased budget to create a luxury consumer packaging experience, which incorporated multiple print techniques including foil stamping and UV layers. The designs encompass the magic of the Star Wars Universe while remaining authentic to Sphero’s core identity.
